3M Night Vision vs. 3M Prestige: how to choose

What 3M says each line is for

According to 3M's product literature, the Prestige series is a non-metallized multilayer film intended to reject heat while keeping a clear, natural look with low reflectivity. Night Vision is positioned as a tinted film that reduces the 'mirror' effect on the inside of the glass after dark, available in several shades.

Both lines come in multiple shades with different light transmission. Always ask for the specific product number (for example a Prestige or Night Vision shade) and request the current data sheet.

Questions that usually decide it

• Do you want the glass to look essentially untreated? Clear films are usually the starting point.
• Is nighttime interior reflection bothering you? Lines designed for low interior reflectance may help.
• How much darker can the room get before it feels gloomy? Look at VLT on the data sheet.
• Is the glass insulated or Low-E? Check the 3M glass compatibility guidance for each candidate.

Samples held up to your own windows at different times of day tell you more than any chart. Ask the installer to bring both lines to the estimate.
